Serif (Europe) Ltd, the UK´s leading independent desktop publishing, design and graphics software developer, is delighted to announce the release of PagePlus X2.

PagePlus X2 (List Price $129.99; upgrade prices available*) is the first, Microsoft Windows Vista certified, version of Serif´s multi-award winning desktop publishing program. Repeatedly praised for offering powerful, yet easy-to-use and affordable, desktop publishing tools for every level of user, this latest version promises even greater flexibility for anyone looking to create outstanding designs.

PagePlus X2 has become one of the very first non-Microsoft applications to be awarded the full ´Certified for Windows Vista´ logo, a great achievement that bears testament to Serif´s development expertise and its dedication to making the latest functionality available to the widest possible audience. Windows Vista users can now easily identify their PagePlus documents within Vista windows from scalable document previews. Publications can also be easily found with Vista´s new Advanced Search feature, which searches document content as well as filenames, and from within PagePlus X2 itself. Designers who don´t switch to Windows Vista will find that PagePlus X2 still looks great and works more efficiently than ever for them too.

PagePlus X2 offers a range of fantastic new ways for designers to share their documents. PDFs can now include sound and video, bringing documents to life with audio and visual annotation. Publications can also now be exported as PDF slideshows with stunning page and layer transitions, for professional-looking multimedia presentations or dynamic family photo albums. Pages designed in PagePlus X2 can also be shared as stunning graphically-rich HTML emails making it quick and convenient to design and send attention-grabbing electronic newsletters, product promotions, party invites and more.

PagePlus X2´s enhanced User Interface has dynamically Sliding Tabs for quick and easy tool selection, as well as providing a larger workspace area to design in. Tabs can still be fixed in place and docked anywhere on the screen, for complete customization, and previously saved workspace layouts can now be loaded directly from the Startup Wizard. The new Media Bar offers a more efficient way to search, organize and add graphics to publications, particularly in conjunction with the stunning new multi-page Photo Album Templates, which can be auto-filled with images from the Media Bar. Similarly, personalized images can be added to the new calendar templates, which allow users to input their own events and specify the year, so the calendar automatically updates.

The new sliding Fonts Tab makes it easier than ever to choose and select different fonts and hovering the cursor over a font style automatically applies it to any selected text in the document, making it easy to see how that style will look in place. Transparent highlighting of selected text allows users to easily view text alterations. A new Text Styles Tab makes it quick and easy to save and apply multiple text attributes to headings, sub-headings and document sections. PagePlus X2 has improved font recognition for imported PDFs with support for embedded TrueType fonts and new Unicode text output. These and other enhancements make text handling and font selection more streamlined than ever, greatly improving workflow in PagePlus X2.

Helping every level of user get the most from PagePlus X2, the new How To Tab hosts illustrated tips and advice on how to tackle a wide range of desktop publishing tasks, remaining searchable when carrying out tasks. Step-by-step graphical Projects also help users grasp particular tools and features, while the new Design Lab offers advice on desktop publishing practices and techniques, including how to create eye-catching layouts and choose color schemes. PagePlus X2 is more intuitive and enjoyable to use than ever, with the vast amount of help on hand for every level of user, enhancements to the User Interface and much more, making it easy to create even the most complex of desktop publishing projects.

"We have a fantastic record of staying on top of the latest industry developments and as one of the very first programs to be certified for Windows Vista, PagePlus X2 is another great example of this", said Gary Bates, Serif´s Managing Director.
