Indianapolis, Ind.–March 30, 2007–Tracking player eligibility and impacting educational success became a lot easier for the Iowa Western Community College men´s basketball team coaching staff this season thanks to the ANGEL Learning Management Suite. ANGEL Learning, developer of ANGEL LMS, today announced that with an assist from ANGEL´s Mentor Insight Window the IWCC basketball team scored its highest GPA ever.

IWCC has used ANGEL LMS since 2002 to offer online classes and bring the power of technology in education to traditional face-to-face classes. A conversation with an IWCC men´s basketball team coach led Rick E. Murch-Shafer, IWCC software support analyst, to find yet another way the college could benefit from its ANGEL adoption.

"Student athletes at the college allow coaches to access their academic records," said Murch-Shafer. "Access to student records is easy in ANGEL but our IT Department wanted to ensure students´ private information was secure." That´s when Murch-Shafer thought of ANGEL´s Mentor Insight Window. Conventionally used in K-12 settings, ANGEL´s Mentor Insight Window provides parents, mentors, advisors–and now coaches–a secure view into student grades, lessons, assignments and course calendars and gives them the ability to easily communicate with instructors.

The results of integrating ANGEL´s Mentor Insight Window into the IWCC basketball program are stellar:

*The fall 2006 team had the highest GPA ever.
*Coaches´ requests for status updates from faculty members have been drastically reduced if not eliminated.
*Coaches easily communicate with the players´ instructors, alerting them to team issues such as travel.

An IWCC assistant basketball coach attributes these results to ANGEL giving the coaching staff the ability to "monitor player progress and quickly intervene when needed."

Mentor Insight Window technologies are fully integrated into ANGEL LMS. Including extended capabilities that often require an additional purchase in competitive systems and offering them as part of the base ANGEL suite represents the simplicity and commitment to value that is ANGEL.
