CrossTec Corp.’s new NetOp Desktop Firewall is designed to answer the security needs encountered when students or employees take their laptops outside the protection of their organization’s perimeter firewall. Going beyond the traditional firewall, the NetOp Desktop Firewall offers sophisticated process and application control, protecting all computers on your network and ensuring laptop security, CrossTec says.
The firewall offers the ability to centrally manage and control the configuration of all the desktop firewall activity on a private school or business network. Network administrators can easily define and manage, in real time, the security level of each individual PC. By centrally applying profiles, administrators can ensure that security settings are adjusted automatically according to the computer’s environment. Additionally, processes can be centrally allowed or denied, eliminating the threat of malicious programs within the first critical minutes of infection, the company says. A host can even choose to hide from the guest the fact that the firewall is installed on the computer.
The system is available in different guest/host configurations, with prices ranging from $145 for one guest or host to $4,375 for a host capabilities pack of 100.
