Tom Snyder Productions has launched a new reading improvement program called Thinking Reader. Developed in partnership with the Center for Applied Special Technology, the program is a CD-based series that targets struggling and special-needs students in grades six to eight.
Thinking Reader combines interesting authentic literature, key comprehension skill-building activities, and immediate corrective feedback into one system. Students read novels commonly used in middle school classrooms, such as “Tuck Everlasting, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, and The Giver.” Through prompts, hints, model answers, and immediate feedback, each student receives differentiated instruction and individualized support needed for success, the company said.
The series costs $500 per book and includes a CD-ROM, teacher support materials, and six copies of the book.
