Cincinnati, OH (Apr. 19, 2007)–netTrekker d.i., America´s #1 educational search engine, has been recognized by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) as the best educational product available for educators and students.
Thinkronize, Inc., the developer of the netTrekker suite of award-winning products, earned its fifth CODiE award in five years for netTrekker d.i. during the 22nd annual SIIA awards presentation. The award was given in the category of "Best Education Solution," which honors the best overall educational technology solution.
This year´s 367 finalists represent a wide and impressive array of technology and business excellence, passion and success. Winners were chosen from more than 1,200 nominations submitted by more than 600 companies–breaking the nominations record set in the 2006 awards program.
Accepting the CODiE award for Thinkronize, CEO Randy Wilhelm said, "Every day when I go into our office, I look at a quote on the wall that says ´Go do something good for kids.´ That statement is at the heart of what our company is about, and we are honored that netTrekker d.i. has been recognized once again by our peers."
netTrekker d.i. provides teachers and students with fast and easy access to more than 180,000 educator-selected, standards-based online resources. In addition, the search engine assigns each prescreened resource a readability measure based on Lexile® ratings and eight other popular methods. netTrekker d.i. also includes resources specifically designed for ELL students and special needs students with its text-to-speech function called Read Aloud.
"I use netTrekker d.i. in my planning every day. No matter what we are studying I go straight to it to see what I can find," said Mary Lane Sloan, 5th grade teacher in Richland School District Two in Columbia, S.C. "netTrekker d.i. fosters true inquiry. I don´t have to worry about my students accessing unsafe sites, so I can give them the freedom they need to navigate their own curiosity."
The product has become a "must-have" resource in many school districts nationwide with 41% more schools purchasing netTrekker d.i. subscriptions over last year. Serving an integral role in the instructional planning of hundreds of thousands of teachers and as a research tool for millions of students nationwide, the netTrekker suite of products has been honored with 19 industry awards in the last five years.
Established in 1986, the CODiE Awards remain the standard-bearer for celebrating outstanding achievement and vision in the software, digital content and education technology industries. "I applaud all the companies selected as winners or finalists in the 22nd annual CODiE Awards," said Ken Wasch, SIIA President. "The software and information industry continues to move at a dizzying pace, and being recognized by your peers for getting to and staying at the head of the pack in such a dynamic environment is a major accomplishment. It is one of the reasons why the CODiE Awards hold such a special place in our industry."
