The Children’s Talking Dictionary & Spell Corrector, from Franklin Learning Resources, is a handheld electronic device that speaks words and reads definitions out loud. It helps students build their reading and writing skills independently by looking up unknown words they encounter in their reading, or editing their writing using the phonetic spell corrector.

The device’s dictionary contains more than 40,000 simple definitions and includes a math tutor, calculator, personal spelling list (students can input weekly spelling words and incorporate them into games), rhyme finder, and a homophone guide (for learning the differences between words like to, too, and two). Designed for children ages 6 and up, the Children’s Taking Dictionary can be used by special-needs students of any age.
