Mountain Home, Ark. — June 11, 2007 — Southern Oregon Education Service District (SOESD), which serves 52,000 students and 3,500 teachers in Jackson, Josephine and Klamath counties, has chosen Computer Automation Systems Inc. to provide an easy-to-use, web-based software solution for managing special education services. SOESD will be the first Oregon Education Service District to implement the company?s Special Education Automation Software (SEAS?).
With school districts spread out over 10,600 square miles, SOESD will implement SEAS to create a centralized system for managing special education services, and to streamline data collection and management across the region.
?Our schools use a variety of computer-based systems, which can make it difficult to transfer student records between districts and even between schools within the same district,? said Jessica Bach, technology assistant for SOESD. ?We want a centralized web-based system that can be shared by all our districts, and that is teacher-friendly and easy to use. In addition, because federal requirements change, we want to work with a company that will be quick to respond to our needs. We chose SEAS because it?s easy to use and intuitive for teachers, its reporting capabilities meet our administrators? needs, it interfaces with our districts? student information system, and the company is strong.?
Used by more U.S. school districts than any other special education management system, SEAS helps districts of all sizes increase the effectiveness of their special education programs by better managing compliance, administration and reporting. SEAS helps reduce the administrative burdens of paperwork and compliance so teachers have more time to focus on their real passion — helping children learn.
?Our primary goal is to provide teachers with a tool to help them get their paperwork done quickly and efficiently,? said Sandra Crews, director of Special Education Services at Southern Oregon ESD. ?Teachers have so much documenting to do and it consumes so much of their time. SEAS gives teachers a solution to free their time from paperwork so they can spend it teaching.?
