Silver Spring, MARYLAND (June 15, 2007)–Discovery Education, the leader in digital, video-based learning, today announced that its Discovery Educator Network website and Cyber Security Poster were recognized with Association of Educational Publishers 2007 Distinguished Achievement Awards. For nearly three decades, the AEP Awards have recognized significant and excellent achievement in supplemental educational products and education marketing. The Distinguished Achievement Awards acknowledge the best educational materials–such as books, periodicals, educational toys, and software–within subject categories and by audience.

The Discovery Educator Network website was honored with a Distinguished Achievement Award for best professional development website. DEN provides a forum for educators to exchange ideas, resources and best practices on integrating multimedia content in their classroom curricula. With more than 25,000 members worldwide providing professional development to over 250,000 educators, DEN connects teachers both online and face-to-face. This global community gives educators exclusive access to a wide range of resources, professional development activities, networking opportunities and exclusive Discovery Educator events.

"I was excited to accept this prestigious award on behalf of every educator in the Discovery Educator Network. It is their passion for teaching and learning, along with their willingness to share their expertise, that has transformed the DEN website into a vibrant learning community," said Scott Kinney, Director of the Discovery Educator Network.

The company´s Cyber Security Poster was named best poster for teaching resources for grades 6-8. "All About Computers: Cyber Security," an initiative developed by CDW-G and Discovery Education, helps educators to address online safety in an age when the ubiquity and power of the Internet have led to widespread security issues that can be potentially dangerous for students. A part of the initiative, the poster is designed to be displayed in classrooms, computer labs and school hallways, and reminds students of fundamental tips to stay safe online.
