Huntsville, AL — September 7, 2007 — Avocent Corporation today introduced the Emerge DM2000 Desktop Manager, the industry?s first Ethernet-based digital KVM switching solution for the broadcast and post-production workstation market. The Avocent digital switching solution delivers unlimited distance over Ethernet for greater flexibility in the video editing suite, and DVI video support for rich media production.

The Avocent Emerge DM2000 desktop manager together with the Avocent Emerge ECMS2000 extender provide digital workstation switching, allowing virtualized access to broadcast and post-production video editing systems. The solution provides digital KVM, audio, USB switching and extension with advanced support for extension of USB mass storage devices and widescreen resolutions.

?Avocent continues to lead the industry in broadcast KVM switching systems through innovative offerings that meet the demanding needs of the broadcast and post-production environment, ? said Mitch Friend, senior vice president and general manager of Avocent. ?The Avocent KVM switching solutions for broadcast greatly enhance the value derived from high-end digital video editing suites.?

Based on gigabit Ethernet and highly optimized extension technology, the Avocent ECMS2000 extender and the DM2000 desktop manager products provide the image quality and responsiveness associated with distance-limited analog KVM switches and the unlimited distance benefits previously only available through KVM over IP switches. In addition to near lossless video and snappy mouse response these third-generation network-based products deliver CD quality audio and seamless extension of USB mass storage devices.

The Avocent Emerge DM2000 desktop manager operates within the boundaries of a typical IP network and does not require any special infrastructure. Avocent KVM switching and extension solutions enable users to put the editing systems or servers in the machine room and extend the keyboard, monitor, and mouse out to the graphics suite. Not only can users extend the keyboard with the Avocent products, users can allow multiple keyboards located in different studios to switch between multiple editing systems. The Emerge DM2000 manager includes support for widescreen video resolutions up to 1366 x 768.

Demonstrations of Avocent?s new digital KVM switching solution for broadcast will take place at the IBC2007 show, Hall 7, Booth #505 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, September 7-11, 2007. The MSRP for the DM2000 desktop manager is $4,495 and the ECMS2000 extender is $1,595. The new Avocent Emerge DM2000 desktop manager will be available for purchase later this month.
