Bloomington, Minn. — Sept. 12, 2007 — Pearson announced today that the Ministry of Education-Malaysia is providing its schools with the company?s iNSIGHT optical mark read (OMR) scanners to support student data collection activities. The southeast Asian country is purchasing 1,240 of the desktop scanners for its primary and secondary schools.
?With the iNSIGHT OMR scanner, the Malaysian Ministry of Education is giving its schools access to a versatile and efficient tool for automating the collection of student data,? said John Harnett, president and CEO of the Data Management group of Pearson. ?We look forward to working with the country?s education leaders as they implement their data collection and assessment programs.?
The iNSIGHT OMR scanner?s powerful processor delivers fast document throughput and transfers into a variety of off-the-shelf and custom software packages. Two built-in read modes allow educators to scan both pencil and pen marked responses from the same scanner, allowing them to use the same scanner for tests, surveys and other data.
