Video conferencing systems provider Polycom Inc. has launched “Polycom Collaborations Around the Planet,” a global social network and directory that helps educators connect with their peers. This free collaboration tool is available to educators who are using video conferencing in the classroom, training room, and in medical or government facilities. It’s designed to connect individuals, content providers, and administrators so they can exchange ideas, conduct research, build curriculum, create projects, and collaborate with other educators. “Incorporating the latest Web 2.0 technology into our arsenal of education tools allows us to increase access to distance-learning resources for educators in a 21st-century education environment,” said Craig Lynar, vice president of vertical markets for Polycom’s Video Solutions Group. “We recognize the capabilities of new collaborative tools as another instrument to assist educators in creating the most powerful blended and distance-learning programs. Collaboration with peers … increases the usefulness of video conferencing technology and programs by bridging the gaps between educators throughout the world.”
