Don’t miss the Florida Educational Technology Corporation (FETC) conference, one of the largest conferences in the United States devoted to educational technology, to be held January 22-25, 2008 in Orlando, Florida. FETC is designed for teachers, principals and deans, district administrators, curriculum designers, media specialists, technology directors and various other educators, and gives all attendees the opportunity to learn how to integrate different technologies across the curriculum–from kindergarten to college–while being exposed to the latest hardware, software, and successful strategies on student technology use.

Over the years, FETC has become known worldwide for its outstanding program, and this year’s conference will be no exception. Attendees will choose from more than 200 concurrent sessions addressing current and emerging technologies, along with best practices discovered through research and actual classroom experience. Plus, more than 70 additional professional development workshops will target 21st-century skills.

The conference exhibit hall, which will feature more than 500 companies, will display the latest hardware, software, and peripherals in technology and education. And from Thursday, January 24 to Friday, January 25, visit the Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resource System’s (FDLRS) Assistive Technology Hands-On Lab to explore the latest in assistive resources.

Attendees can also choose from a slate of nationally-recognized speakers who will address current topics in educational technology during the Eye-Opener Keynote and Featured Speaker sessions. This year’s keynote speaker, Emmy award-winner Jeff Corwin, is a must see. On Wednesday, January 23, 2008, from 3:30 – 5:00p.m., Corwin will wow the FETC crowd with insight he’s gleaned through working for the conservation of endangered species and ecosystems since he was a teenager. When not in the field, he lectures on wildlife, ecology, and conservation, and has established an interactive museum and environmental education center in Norwell, Mass.

In addition to Corwin’s fascinating and humorous wildlife expertise, an impressive line-up of distinguished local, state, and national dignitaries will share their visions for technology in education at FETC 2008. Invited featured speakers include Gary Becker, Consultant; Hall Davidson, Discovery Education; Chris Dede, Harvard Graduate School of Education; Ted Hasselbring, Vanderbilt University; John Kuglin, Eagle-Vail School District; Cheryl Lemke, Metiri Group; Jenelle Leonard, U.S. Department of Education; Alan November, November Learning; Perry Reeves, Consultant; Kathy Schrock, Nauset Public Schools; and Steve Dembo, Discovery Education.
