Responding to security concerns, University of Florida officials last week removed student identification numbers from a directory on the university's web site, reports the Gainesville Sun. Officials said there's little risk the numbers could be used for mischief. But a UF student who first raised the issue questioned whether the numbers could be used to access student records and other personal information. "It's kind of like a Social Security number for UF," said Chris Rakaczky, a freshman computer engineering major. "It should be held to that kind of standard."
