Wyoming gets stimulus funds for cleaner school bus emissions

Wyoming’s school bus passengers will breathe a little easier thanks to a $1.73 million grant from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act to clean up diesel emissions, reports the Casper Star-Tribune. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on April 8 awarded $1.73 million to the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality to support clean diesel projects. Programs to retrofit diesel-powered buses are already well established, so the cleanup can be done quickly. States have only until September 2010 to spend the money. "We have a very short window to get the funding spent. School bus programs are tried and true. People know how to do them.
