Richmond County, GA School System and Carnegie Learning Announce Math Curricula Development Partnership
Superintendent Dr. Dana Bedden Leads Project to Improve Middle School Transition to High School Math
PITTSBURGH, PA, September 14, 2009 – Carnegie Learning, Inc., publisher of innovative, research-based math solutions for middle school, high school and post-secondary students, today announced the company is developing a new middle school Georgia math sequence in partnership with Richmond County School System in Augusta. The three-year mathematics program will include student textbooks, teacher materials and professional development programs. The curricula will be implemented in the Richmond County School System in the 2010-11 school year.

Aligned to the Georgia Mathematics Performance Standards, the new Carnegie Learning® middle school math curricula for the Richmond County School System will emphasize a deeper conceptual knowledge of math based on problem solving, reasoning, the use of multiple representations and making real-world connections to the concepts. Carnegie Learning® Textbooks support a collaborative classroom environment that encourages students to work both independently and cooperatively to solve problems, estimate and compute efficiently and verbally communicate their mathematical understanding.
