THE MICHAEL COHEN GROUP LLC CONTRIBUTES TO “WORDWORLD” WINNING TWO EMMY®AWARDS

AS OUTSTANDING CHILDREN’S ANIMATED PROGRAM AND FOR OUTSTANDING WRITING IN ANIMATION AT 36TH ANNUAL DAYTIME EMMY AWARDS

PBS KIDS Series

Wins In Both Nominated Categories

New York, NY (September 1, 2009) – The Michael Cohen Group LLC contributed through formal and summative research to “WordWorld,” the innovative animated television series which empowers preschoolers to read, and was honored Saturday evening by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) with two Emmy® Awards at its 36th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Award event in Los Angeles.

The series, which airs Monday through Friday on PBS Kids, was named Outstanding Children’s Animated Program as well being honored for Outstanding Writing in Animation.

“We are extremely proud of our ‘WordWorld’ colleagues,” said Dr. Michael Cohen, President of the Michael Cohen Group LLC, which evaluated the series.

Praised by critics, educators and parents alike, the multimedia preschool property playfully brings words to life through an innovative methodology that embeds words into the objects they represent, resulting in easier word recognition for children. The groundbreaking series incorporates television, learning products and interactive resources to encourage literacy in children.

Since its launch on PBS KIDS in July 2007, WordWorld has earned accolades from both critics and consumers.  The series has earned three Emmy Awards, a Parent’s Choice Gold Award, and has received glowing reviews by critics including an “A-“ by Entertainment Weekly, which credited it with demonstrating that “television can still be a valuable learning tool.”  Airing in over 97% of the U.S., WordWorld introduces viewers to a word-rich world populated by hundreds of lively, fun-loving WordFriends, characters and things that are created by the letters that represent them.  WordWorld is partially funded by the U.S. Department of Education as part of the “Ready to Learn” literacy initiative and has been shown by the Michael Cohen Group to achieve several specific educational objectives.

OnCourse Grade Book Rolled Out in One of the Nation’s Largest School Districts – Duval County Public Schools

Gibbstown, N.J. – August 20, 2009 – OnCourse Systems for Education, a provider of award-winning, web-based tools that streamline and automate educational processes for public and private school districts, announced today that Duval County Public Schools, the 20th largest school district in the country serving 123,000 students in the Jacksonville, Fla. area, has implemented its Grade Book for its teachers and administrators at its 161 schools for the 2009-2010 school year and will roll out OnCourse Lesson Planner in the future.

“We evaluated 30 different grade book solutions based on the requirements of our teachers and administrators,” said Mark Preston, systems analyst for Duval County Public Schools. “OnCourse Grade Book had the highest score, meeting 97 percent of the functional requirements. The solution is easy to use, intuitive, feature-rich and easy for training users. OnCourse Grade Book will really streamline our grade gathering process – cutting costs and saving our users significant time.”

“Having Grade Book used by the teachers and administrators across 161 schools in one district is exactly what our solution was meant to do,” explained Georgia Gallicchio, chief marketing officer at OnCourse Systems. “It not only enables teachers to easily record scores and calculate grades, but it automates the progress report and report card processes and enables teachers and administrators to collaborate and effectively communicate with parents on their student’s performance. We are excited to complete the implementation for Duval County Public Schools and develop a long-term partnership to streamline their processes.”

Prior to OnCourse Grade Book, Duval County Public Schools did not have a district-wide solution. The grade book systems were decided on at a school or even individual teacher level. Some used paper-based processes to record and calculate grades and others used various electronic tools. The school district has had 40 of its schools using OnCourse Grade Book since March 2009 and the rest of the schools will be live for the 2009-2010 school year.

OnCourse Grade Book
OnCourse Grade Book is a web-based tool that automates the capture, calculation and communication of student grades. Because teachers can map each assignment to the relevant educational standards, educators can generate not only traditional progress reports, but also standards-based report cards that clearly highlight student performance vis-à-vis specific requirements. Additionally, with OnCourse Grade Book, schools can provide online updates to parents – facilitating fast identification and resolution of student issues.

OnCourse Lesson Planner
OnCourse Lesson Planner is an innovative tool revolutionizing the way teachers and administrators create, manage and share lesson plans. Through easy-to-use online templates, teachers can more quickly and easily write, edit and collaborate on lesson plans. Principals can review and comment on the plans electronically. And teachers can map lessons to educational standards – enabling administrators to generate reports about what’s being taught, when and by whom.

About OnCourse Systems for Education
OnCourse Systems for Education is a full-service provider of web-based tools that streamline and automate educational processes for teachers and administrators in public and private school districts. OnCourse Lesson Planner is a web-based tool that automates the creation, management, archival and sharing of lesson plans with more than 100,000 users nationwide. In 2007, Lesson Planner received the Association of Educational Publishers’ Distinguished Achievement Award and ComputED’s Best Educational Software Awards (BESSIES). OnCourse also offers other web-based solutions including its Student Information System (SIS), OnCourse Grade Book, OnCourse Student Stats and OnCourse Discipline System. Founded in 2002, OnCourse is headquartered in Gibbstown, N.J. For more information on OnCourse Systems, visit www.oncoursesystems.com.

Amazon.com makes its case against Google book deal

Online bookseller Amazon.com Inc. is warning a federal judge that internet search leader Google Inc. will be able to gouge consumers and stifle competition if it wins court approval to add millions more titles to its already vast digital library, reports the Associated Press. The harsh critique of Google’s 10-month-old settlement with U.S. authors and publishers emerged this week in a 41-page brief that Amazon filed in an attempt to persuade U.S. District Judge Denny Chin to block the agreement from taking effect. A flurry of filings opposing and supporting the class-action settlement is expected by Sept. 4–the deadline for most briefs in the case. At least two other Google rivals, Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo Inc., are expected weigh in with their opposition by then. Seattle-based Amazon not only sells books, both in print and digital form, but also is trying to create a new distribution channel with its electronic reader, the Kindle. The Authors Guild, one of the parties that reached the settlement with Google, thinks Amazon is opposing the settlement because it wants the Kindle be the primary method for buying and reading digital books. "Amazon apparently fears Google could upend its plans," said Paul Aiken, the guild’s executive director…
