Mississippi Delta Community College Chooses SunGard Higher Education’s Win Services for Faster Implementation of the Banner UDC

MALVERN, Pa, October 09, 2009 — Mississippi Delta Community College has chosen SunGard Higher Education for project management and consulting services to implement the Banner Unified Digital Campus (UDC) on an accelerated implementation schedule, helping to bring the benefits of online and personalized self-service applications to its students, faculty and staff as quickly as possible.

The College will implement the Banner UDC using SunGard Higher Education’s Win Services, a set of services that are designed to implement the Banner UDC within a compressed timeframe and at a fixed price.

“The Win Services implementation model will help us deliver more and better services to our constituents much faster than a traditional implementation,” said Larry G. Bailey, PhD, president, Mississippi Delta Community College. “We chose SunGard Higher Education to support us in this effort because of their high level of successful implementations at other community colleges and universities in Mississippi and across the nation.”

The College’s current technology platform does not provide any self-service capabilities, such as online registration. In addition, data among the different databases is not integrated, resulting in inaccurate and conflicting data between systems.  Also, the data is not always readily accessible to staff and others who need to access it. The College’s Banner UDC will include the entire integrated Banner UDC suite of student, finance, financial aid, human resource and advancement modules. The College will also implement the Banner Operational Data Store, an enterprise-wide operational and ad hoc reporting solution that is designed to provide a consistent view of institutional data and enables users to generate operational and ad hoc reports. The Luminis Platform will provide out-of-the-box integration with the Banner [1] administrative system and one-stop online access to personalized information and services and enterprise communication applications.

“The Banner UDC will help staff throughout the entire MDCC system to work much more efficiently and accurately, while the self-service features available within the portal will help us deliver more effective and personalized interactions with all our constituents, helping to enhance the quality educational experience we provide at MDCC,” said Dr. Bailey.

“Increasing enrollments and reduced funding are placing added pressure on community colleges to meet the needs of their constituents without adding staff,” said Brad Rucker, senior vice president of services at SunGard Higher Education. “The Win implementation model will help the college quickly ramp up its self-service features for its constituents while taking some of the pressure off its staff.”
