Emergency Preparedness Plans

Safety starts with planning. For schools to create safe environments, educators need to think about how to respond quickly and effectively in the event of trouble. In this section of the S.A.F.E. Center, the editors of eSchool News have compiled examples of actual school disaster plans submitted by members of ISTE® and others.

Identifying factors such as school names, locations, telephone numbers, key contact personnel, and designated meeting places have been omitted to protect each school security plan’s confidentiality.

Every school is unique and requires planning of its own, but to give you ideas and examples for comparison, here are sample emergency and disaster plans from schools from coast to coast.
