Included in the latest release of School Announcement is the exclusive new Parent Portal – a first in the marketplace. The Parent Portal affords schools the opportunity to empower parents to not only update and edit their contact information, but add additional contact information. Furthermore, the online portal allows parents to choose which numbers are contacted in any given situation. For example, a parent may want multiple numbers contacted in the event of an emergency, but only want the home number called for general notifications. Similarly a parent may want attendance calls to go to both parent’s cell phones, rather than their home.
By extending this type of flexibility and control to parents some School Announcement clients have had success in commanding a fee from student families to cover the cost and also to raise additional funds. The addition of the ability to send SMS text messages as well as traditional voice notifications and email is also a new innovation that increases the value of the service to student families.
