Carone Fitness Aids with Continuity of Learning

Salt Lake City, Utah- October 2009- Carone Fitness has been identified by the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) as a resource provider to aid with their most recent initiative, “Continuity of Learning,” http://www.inacol.org/col/index.php.

Natural disasters coupled with the swine flu epidemic brought about a number of new challenges for schools last year–many had to close their doors for days or weeks at a time. This year many schools are trying to prepare for potential closures by identifying educational alternatives. iNACOL “has identified some solutions for schools to provide continuity of learning during probable H1N1, pandemic and natural disasters causing school closures.”

Carone Fitness, http://www.caronefitness.com, provides online health & PE curriculum for grades 6-12. In addition to providing semester-long courses, Carone Fitness also offers summer, credit recovery, and homebound learning options.

Director, Katie Carone, states “Our homebound courses were designed specifically for this type of situation.” Weekly units are topic-based, so students can enroll on a week-by-week basis as needed. This is ideal for students who have been homebound or are away from school for any period of time. The set up allows students to remain “in attendance” and stay up to date with their studies, even while physically off school grounds.
