Now Hear This – Calypso Systems Debuts New WCM-RF Voice Amplification System

WOODBURY, Minn. – November 10, 2009 Calypso Systems, a leading developer of multimedia technology solutions for K-12 classrooms, today unveiled the newest version of its popular sound-field reinforcement technology, the WCM-RF Voice Amplification System.

The new WCM-RF system, currently available through Calypso’s worldwide dealer network, features functional enhancements designed to improve sound quality and increase intelligibility in the classroom. The WCM Voice Amplification System is designed specifically to support classroom learning experiences, and brings unmatched sound quality, functionality and affordability to sound-field reinforcement in K-12 learning environments.

“The updated WCM-RF is our most flexible classroom amplification package yet, with more features to help students hear and learn more effectively than ever before,” said David H. Parish, Ph.D., president of Calypso Systems. “Our new technology will facilitate even greater communication and collaboration between teachers and students in the classroom.”

New Features Help Teachers Be Heard

The new WCM-RF system is Calypso’s first voice amplification product with a 20 band digital equalizer as a standard feature, providing customized sound quality for a variety of environments. Five unique adjustable bands provide enhanced intelligibility for all situations, from background noise distractions to poor acoustics. The equalizer comes programmed with three preset levels that provide optimized sound output for common male, female and base level voice ranges. In addition, a certified installer can also customize the equalizer settings for specific classroom situations.

The WCM-RF system is uniquely designed for seamless integration with other classroom audio sources, making the use of multimedia easier for teachers. For example, with the WCM-RF, when teachers comment during DVD playback, DVD audio volume is automatically lowered, then automatically returned to previous levels when they are finished speaking.   When using one of Calypso’s networked wall-mount controllers or encore! desktop control software, a teacher can easily switch between equalizer presets,  switch multimedia sources, and more, with the touch of a button.

For the first time, a high-quality lapel microphone attachment and belt clip holster come standard on the WCM-RF system, improving sound quality in the classroom and instructional flexibility for teachers. Users can now choose between lapel and lanyard-style microphones, depending on their individual needs.

The WCM-RF wireless system has an MSRP of $999.00 with K-12 pricing available. The package includes a teacher microphone, base station, classroom amplifier, two ceiling speakers and all necessary cables and mounts.
