Ann McMullan Earns Lifetime Achievement Award

The Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) has awarded Klein ISD Executive Director of Educational Technology, Ms. Ann McMullan, the Lifetime Achievement Award for the Advancement of Technology. The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an educator with 20 or more years of experience who has demonstrated both leadership and passion for using technology to educate students.

Ms. Candace Threadgill, President of TCEA, noted, “Ms. McMullan truly earned and deserved this award. Klein’s outstanding use of technology in the classroom as a vital learning tool reflects her commitment to instruction. Ms. McMullan understands that technology has the power to engage students in their learning processes across all grade levels and content areas.”

As Executive Director of the Educational Technology department, Ms. McMullan leads Klein ISD’s programs for instructional technology and library/media services. A critical component of the department’s work is the focus on student use of technology to improve achievement. Ongoing job-embedded professional development for teachers and administrators is key to the success of all Klein ISD’s technology initiatives.

Ms. McMullan served as the co-chair of the state educational technology advisory committee which developed the Texas Long Range Plan for Technology 2006-2020. This long range plan serves as the framework upon which all school districts in Texas build their own technology plans as well as a guide for the state legislature and the Texas Education Agency in establishing policies around educational technology.

Frequently called on to advocate for the value of technology in teaching and learning, Ms. McMullan has addressed federal and state agencies and committees. She is a recurrent speaker at state and national education conferences.
