N.Y. lawmakers introduce cyber-bullying law

Just one day after anti-bullying legislation became law in Massachusetts, New York lawmakers are trying to do the same, WTEN reports. During a press conference at the state Capitol on May 3, Senate Republicans introduced a bill that would require schools to have some sort of anti-bullying program. The bill also comes with civil penalties, such as suspension from school, or complete removal from the school environment. The legislation comes as a sigh of relief for many young victims of bullying, both online and in person. ”What happens when someone starts with these messages and stories and lies, they go on the internet and Facebook and Twitter and everything that kids use today, that undermines the self-esteem that a parent is trying to build,” state Sen.
