AUSTIN, TX Sept. 28, 2010 — CompassLearning®, the leading provider of personalized education technology solutions, announced it has received three Education Software Review (EDDIE) awards from the ComputED Gazette. The company was recognized in the high school division for its Odyssey Algebra II, World History and Chemistry courses.
The EDDIE awards target innovative, content-rich programs and websites that augment classroom curriculum and improve teacher productivity, providing parents and teachers with the technology to foster educational excellence. Winners are selected from titles submitted by software publishers located around the world, and are judged on academic content, potential for broad classroom use, technical merit, subject approach and management system.
“Receiving these awards is a true honor,” said CompassLearning Chief Executive Officer Eric Loeffel. “ComputED’s continuing recognition affirms that Compass Learning is leading the transformation of education in the U.S. by engaging young learners and enhancing the effectiveness of K–12 educators.”
A winner of previous EDDIEs as well as other esteemed industry award competitions, Odyssey High School offers core high school subject-area courses, electives and Advanced Placement options, and educators can use it for credit and grade recovery.
In 2008, only 74.9% of American high school seniors received their diplomas. Odyssey High School was designed to help districts improve graduation rates by supporting students with engaging instructional activities and flexible, anytime, anywhere access. Odyssey High School’s rigorous content includes dynamic, interactive features, master instructors and an entertaining cast of characters that keep students motivated and eager to learn. As evidenced by numerous studies, that engagement in learning pays off in tangibles such as increased test scores and higher graduation rates.
“CompassLearning’s Odyssey products embody the theme of the EDDIE Awards,” said ComputED Editor Marie Karr. “They consistently provide content-rich programs that meet the needs of today’s students.”
