Ohio gov. orders review in mom’s school choice case

Ohio Gov. John Kasich has asked the Parole Board to determine whether the felony conviction of a woman who used her father’s address to enroll her children in a neighboring school district was an appropriate punishment, the Associated Press reports. Akron resident Kelley Williams-Bolar spent nine days in jail after a jury convicted her of falsifying documents to enroll her daughters in the Copley-Fairlawn schools from 2006 to 2008. The felony record precludes her from following through on plans to become a teacher. After a legal team review, Kasich said Tuesday he believes the case merits Parole Board attention.
