April 12, 2011 – Bloomington, IL – For 25 years, the CODiE awards have recognized excellence in the education technology industry. Through a thorough review of products and services by people who know the industry, the CODiE Awards allow companies to validate their products against the competition.
FTC Family of Companies’ MyVRSpot online publishing and social learning network has been recognized as a finalist for the 2011 CODiE awards in two different categories: Best Education Community Solution, which recognizes the online system designed to provide social networking and education community support for K-12 or postsecondary students, teachers and administrators; and Best K-12 Instructional Solution, which recognizes the best broad-based, multi-disciplinary teaching application or solution for curricula content that is specifically targeted toward students in K-12 learning environments.
MyVRSpot is the school district’s answer to multimedia (video, graphic, audio file) sharing and engaging students in a social learning environment. With MyVRSpot, users are provided their own web-presence, allowing them to communicate, publish, and collaborate with their peers in a safe and secure environment. Student as well as teacher collaboration has never been more exciting. “We are very honored to be recognized as one of the best solutions in both categories. We know that MyVRSpot is a tool that can make a real difference in classroom learning, providing students with a way to use the technology they truly love to truly support the curriculum being taught. This recognition from the award’s committee, as well the feedback we receive from our users – students, teachers, and parents – lets us know we’ve got a product that addresses 21st century learning in a truly meaningful way,” commented Michael Kessler, President of the FTC Family of Companies. “We owe much of our success to our customers and our TIE Advisory Board, as they push us to continue to develop meaningful tools that truly engage their students in the learning process. The finalist nominations provide us with the validation that we are making a real difference, and is also quite humbling,” he adds.
