BALTIMORE (May 4, 2011) – Connections Learning (www.ConnectionsLearning.com), a leading provider of digital learning solutions to the K–12 education community, has named Rebecca McGinley to the post of Senior Director of Operations.

Connections Learning, a division of Connections Education and sister company to the widely known Connections Academy network of virtual schools, offers K–12 educators a range of quality, affordable digital learning solutions customized to fit a school or district’s resources and students’ needs. The organization was launched in January in response to growing educator demand for targeted, customized solutions for their brick-and-mortar schools.

More than 300 schools, school districts, state departments of education and other educational institutions, serving tens of thousands of students throughout the United States and beyond, are already utilizing Connections Learning products and services. McGinley will oversee all operations functions for the company to ensure that schools, students, and other partners will receive optimal customer service and operational support for Connections Learning’s host of online learning products and services.

“Top notch customer service is central to the Connections Learning mission along with delivering quality online learning solutions that deliver superior academic results,” commented Connections Learning President Steven Guttentag, “Rebecca McGinley’s role is critical to helping us meet – exceed – these objectives. Her experience in business and operations made her the perfect choice for the job. We are very pleased that she has joined our growing and talented management team.”

Rebecca McGinley brings over 20 years of business experience with a strong focus on operations, compliance, and management. She comes to Connections Learning from KPMG LLP, where she was the Director of Practice Operations for KPMG Corporate Finance LLC, KPMG’s U.S.-based investment bank. McGinley’s tenure at KPMG and its divisions spans over ten years, which started with her role as a banker, executing private client transactions before transitioning to an operating role to support the growth of the division. Prior to her role as Director of Practice Operations she held several key positions including Senior Vice President for Operations and Chief Compliance Officer for KPMG Corporate Finance LLC. KPMG Corporate Finance LLC provides a broad range of investment banking and advisory services, including advising on mergers and acquisitions, sales and divestitures, buyouts, financings, debt restructurings, equity recapitalizations, and infrastructure project finance.

Well-suited to meet Connections Learning’s growing division, at KPMG McGinley was responsible for expanding the corporate finance business in the United States and in 5 years took the company from 4 to 10 offices and from 40 to over 90 employees across the United States, and supported the development of diversified products and services. Additionally, she was instrumental in creating operating procedures and processes that resulted in efficiencies, more refined reporting, and better information to manage costs and resources. She was also a key contributor in building the Marketing and Human Resource functions for the Corporate Finance division.

Prior to her work at KPMG, McGinley held positions at Capitol One and COSMOS Corporation, a research and evaluation consulting company based in Bethesda, MD. At COSMOS she served as Director of Planning and Project Coordinator where she worked with multimillion dollar government contracts to manage a variety of the business activities including developing and tracking project budgets and staffing plans, and serving as liaison between project members, subcontractors, and clients.

McGinley holds an M.B.A from The George Washington University and a B. A. from The American University. She joins the recently appointed Kevin Sweeney and Michael Wilmeth to lead Connections Learning’s rapidly expanding division.
