Minneapolis (May 23, 2011) – Capstone Digital, developer of personalized learning environments for students, announces the myON Publisher Program, which provides an opportunity for children’s publishers to include their content into myON reader, a personalized literacy environment designed for students.
Districts across the country are implementing the myON platform, which is planning to grow to more than 1 million students by the end of 2011. To accommodate this growing community of educators and students, Capstone Digital will package publishers’ content to help create the largest and most extensive personalized digital library with reading supports available today.
myON reader currently features more than 1,200 books exclusively from Capstone’s award-winning imprints: Capstone Press, Picture Window Books, Stone Arch Books, Compass Point Books, and Heinemann-Raintree. With the addition of new publishers to the myON platform, educators will have the opportunity to expand their selection of titles for their students.
“The decline in literacy rates in the United States has become more critical than ever. Students’ reading levels have been proven to be a direct indicator of how successful they will be as an adult. Capstone Digital wants to join forces with other publishers to help improve students’ reading levels by providing access to books at their level and matched to their interest,” said Todd Brekhus, president of Capstone Digital. “Our ultimate goal is to encourage students to read more. By partnering with additional publishers, we are sure to provide the right books to all students no matter what their reading level.”
myON is a personalized literacy environment that provides anytime, anywhere access to the largest integrated library of digital books with multimedia supports, customized to a student’s interest and reading ability. myON enables students to read, rate and share their reviews with classmates and allows them to take ownership in their own reading growth through embedded Lexile® assessments. Teachers and administrators are able to monitor, measure and track reading growth based on individual students, classes, grades, building, and districts.
