Discovery Education Science Techbook Named an EdNET’s Best “Shining Stars” for 2011
Discovery Education Science Techbook recognized among the top five product and service “game changers” in the education marketplace
Silver Spring, Md. (June 1, 2011) – Discovery Education Science Techbook has been voted one of the top five “Shining Stars” in EdNET’s Best for 2011, a new recognition program developed by MDR, with the support of Educational Systemics, to recognize leaders and innovators in the education marketplace. “Shining Stars” is one of three categories in the program, and it recognizes products and services that are potential “game changers” in the education marketplace as selected by the EdNET community at large and the EdNET’s Best panelists.
Discovery Education Science Techbook, developed by Discovery Education, is a digital core instructional resource for elementary and middle school science instruction. Each edition of the Discovery Education Science Techbook series is built from the ground up to address individual state standards and is intended to serve as the new primary instructional resource for elementary and middle schools. It was selected from a large pool of competitive products and services to win a coveted spot on the EdNET’s Best list. Discovery Education is the leading provider of high quality curriculum-based digital content, professional development and assessment resources whose services are available in more than half of U.S. schools.
“As a 2011 ‘Shining Star’ recipient, Discovery Education Science Techbook is believed to be one of the superstars of the education marketplace by the EdNET community and the EdNET’s Best panel,” said Dr. Nelson Heller, president of EdNET, MDR. “Being listed among the EdNET’s Best top five puts you on the shortlist of exemplary offerings in the education industry.”
“Discovery Education Science Techbook brings the world of science alive for every type of learner through its dynamic videos, reading passages, hands-on activities, interactive virtual labs, and more,” said Chuck Amos, vice president of digital Techbook strategy & business development, Discovery Education. “In addition to engaging students in science education in a dynamic and relevant manner, our Techbooks empower educators to create learning environments that promote collaboration, creativity and participatory learning,”
MDR, with support from Educational Systemics, created the EdNET’s Best program to recognize leaders and innovations in today’s education marketplace in three categories: “Shining Stars,” “Leaders to Watch,” and “Teachers Select.” The winners on the 2011 EdNET’s Best list will be officially honored at a recognition ceremony held at the 2011 EdNET Conference, September 25-27, in Denver.
