New York, June 17, 2011 – DimensionU, the respected video game-based learning resource for K–12 students, has recently been honored with two significant awards, demonstrating its profound appeal with educators and families alike. In addition, the organization’s CEO, Ntiedo Etuk, has been named to the “ones to watch in Silicon Alley” list by the esteemed Crain’s New York Business publication.

This past month DimensionU educational videogames were designated as one of the “Shining Stars” in EdNET’s Best for 2011 program. This new recognition program, developed by MDR with the support of Educational Systemics, selected DimensionU from a large pool of competitive products and services offered in the education marketplace. “Shining Stars” is one of three categories in the program, recognizing products and services that are “game changers” in the education marketplace as selected by the EdNET community at large and the EdNET’s Best panelists.

The second honor comes from the Computer for Youth’s (CFY) Innovative Learning Awards where DimensionU games were named the organization’s Family Learning Software of the Year. CFY is a national educational non-profit organization dedicated to helping low-income children do better in school by improving the learning environment at home. The Innovative Learning Awards ceremony will be held on June 16 and will bring together educators, technology professionals, industry leaders, and CFY supporters to celebrate the year’s accomplishments and to recognize excellence and innovation in education.

“We are pleased to receive these coveted awards for our achievements in educational technology,” said Ntiedo (NT) Etuk, CEO and co-founder of Tabula Digita, developer of the DimensionU Learning System. “These distinctions specifically recognize our games as offering rich, engaging educational content that extends learning from the classroom to the home. That’s especially true when the affects of summer brain drain kicks into high gear. Instead of children being faced with loosing two months of learning during the long, summer break we’re offering the U Games Summer Challenge so kids can turn this time of year into summer brain gain!”
“As a 2011 ‘Shining Stars’ recipient, DimensionU is believed to be one of the superstars of the education marketplace by the EdNET community and the EdNET’s Best panel,” said Dr. Nelson Heller, President of EdNET, MDR. “Being listed among the EdNET’s Best top five puts you on the shortlist of exemplary offerings in the education industry.”
The DimensionU educational video games have been shown to develop a higher level of analytical problem solving skills for mathematics and a deeper understanding of essential literacy skills. Currently, more than 75 school districts across the country are using DimensionU games, including New York City Public Schools, Chicago Public Schools, Miami-Dade, Marion, and Broward County Public Schools in Florida, and Dallas, Austin and Ft. Worth Independent School Districts in Texas.
