CHICAGO – Espresso Elementary, the online, multimedia teaching and learning site for Pre-K through Grade 5 today announced the launch of its Online Professional Development course.

Delivered online, the course consists of six learning modules that provide educators with the skills and knowledge they need to effectively integrate Espresso into their curriculum planning and delivery. Each module provides approximately two to three hours of instruction and gives educators the opportunity to complete an e-portfolio including reflective journals, assessments and practical lessons that are designed to be easily transferred into use in the classroom.

The course modules were developed in partnership with MIDA Learning Technologies, an educational consultancy organization located in Dallas, PA. They are designed to reflect the latest findings in educational research and support key educational initiatives, including Common Core standards.

Christine Major, Professional Development Manager for Espresso Education commented, “Our aim is to guide and support educators in their journey towards embedding Espresso into everyday teaching and helping their students to achieve. We know how important it is for a professional development course to transfer directly into practice. That’s why our new online course includes many opportunities to reflect and complete ‘hands-on’ assignments so educators can quickly apply new strategies and skills to deliver impactful lessons.”

This new online model enables educators to complete the course anytime, anywhere. It can be combined with or used as a framework to facilitate Espresso’s face-to-face training at a district or school level.
