System will provide improved data analysis capability
LONDON, On. – July 25, 2011 – Pearson, the global leader in education technology and services, announced today that the London District Catholic School Board has selected PowerSchool as its new web-based student information system (SIS) and Pearson Inform as its new achievement data analysis tool. These Pearson products will serve London District’s more than 21,000 students.
“PowerSchool will provide our teachers with a solution for a grade book and all staff with extensive report functionality,” said Sandra Abell, Supervisor of ICT Data and Student Management at London District. “It will provide parents the ability to be interactive with their child’s education and provide senior management and classroom teachers a comprehensive data analysis tool.”
The London District selected PowerSchool as its comprehensive SIS because the new student information system will give the district an opportunity to integrate their processes with a true web-based solution. The District also based its decision on the long-term cost savings of selecting PowerSchool.
“We welcome PowerSchool with open arms and are looking forward to its many features, such as the user friendliness, the parent and student portal, PowerTeacher and the grade book module, as well as Pearson Inform,” Abell said.
“London District Catholic School Board also favored PowerSchool because it is a student information system solution with education as its primary focus and because other Pearson offerings can be tightly integrated with PowerSchool as the needs of the district change,” said Aster Laleman, Strategic Accounts Manager for the School Systems group of Pearson.
PowerSchool will serve as the information backbone for the London District Catholic School Board. Through its robust set of communication tools, PowerSchool will provide access to secure, real-time student information through a web browser. PowerSchool’s parent portal facilitates interactive dialogue between parents, students, and teachers. Additional features, such as master scheduling and reporting tools, will lend substantial efficiencies to the district.
“The London District understood that the information provided by a new SIS would positively impact student performance and district reporting processes,” said Paul Fletcher, president of the School Systems group. “PowerSchool’s strong feature set and ability to scale will meet the district’s long-term informational and real-time communication needs.”
The London District expects to complete the implementation of PowerSchool by the summer of 2012.
