This week, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution released results of an investigation of standardized test scores in school districts across the nation, says Tavia Fuller Armstrong for Yahoo! News. After months of digging, and some serious reluctance from the education departments in several states, the newspaper found that there were seriously suspicious trends in the test scores of approximately 200 school districts across the country. The Atlanta Public School district was scandalized in 2011 when widespread cheating was found at 44 different Atlanta schools. Witnesses testified to an environment of pressure to cheat and to cover the lies. A Baltimore school was honored by the Obama administration in 2009 for its outstanding achievements, only to be exposed as a haven for cheating educators.
