San Francisco State Joins Extensive Network of Follett Stores across California
OAK BROOK, Ill., June 19, 2012 – Follett Higher Education Group is pleased to announce their newest partnership with San Francisco State University. Selected by the board of directors of the University Corporation for San Francisco State, Follett was identified as the company with the best experience, resources, technology and course material offerings to support San Francisco State’s students, faculty and staff. Follett is scheduled to begin managing the San Francisco State University Bookstore on July 1, 2012.
With the new partnership, Follett will bring the largest inventory of course materials and a network of more than 7,000 publishers and providers to offer students the greatest selection of affordable course material options. The company also operates the nation’s largest online textbook portal, efollett.com, giving students the convenience of shopping online or in-store.
To help lower the costs of higher education, San Francisco State students will now have access to Follett’s popular Rent-A-Text program that provides, on average, 50 percent or more off the price of a new textbook. In just three years, the program has saved students more than $300 million nationwide.
In addition to its robust rental program, Follett provides access to the largest selection of digital solutions, including 35,000 CafeScribe® digital titles. Follett is also the largest distributor of Inkling® digital textbooks, the leading platform for interactive learning content.
“Follett will bring deep experience and expertise in managing our campus store,” said Agnes Wong-Nickerson, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of the University Corporation, San Francisco State. “Follett will also act as a positive impact on our campus by completing upgrades to the campus store, providing funding for student scholarships and reinvesting in various University programs.”
The new partnership with San Francisco State strengthens Follett’s already strong network in California. The company currently serves more than 80 stores in California including Stanford and California State University. Nationwide, Follett provides unmatched service to more than 900 campus stores.
“We’re excited to join the San Francisco State University community and to continue our support of California’s premier higher education institutions,” said Thomas Christopher, president, Follett Higher Education Group. “At Follett, we’re committed to driving student success and we look forward to working with San Francisco State to identify solutions that make course materials affordable and accessible for students.”
