myCore™ BOOSTS CAPACITIES OF TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS TO ADOPT THE COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS
Insight Education Group Launches New Online Tool Designed By Teachers

Insight Education Group takes a significant next step in its work supporting standards-based learning with the launch of myCore™. Three years in development, myCore™ is a practical online tool that guides teachers in planning and sharing curriculum with the necessary Common Core focus, and supplies a built-in coaching function so that school leaders can support teachers in their work.

myCore™ was designed and tested in partnership with teachers, curriculum specialists, coaches, and administrators in the Baltimore City Schools. The interface—designed by teachers–is easy to use and accessible from anywhere.

Unlike more complex learning systems, myCore™ focuses intentionally on the heart of learning—a teacher’s day-to-day work with students—and works easily and well with any curriculum. myCore™ is the latest addition to the suite of professional learning strategies and services that Insight Education provides to school districts around the country.

Common Core State Standards have been adopted by 45 states; school systems across those states are challenged to incorporate the Standards and to work toward preparing students for assessments in 2015.

The recent Primary Source survey funded by the Gates Foundation reports that 64% of teachers believe that common standards across all states will have a strong impact on improving student achievement. Yet only 22% of teachers felt that they were adequately prepared to teach the Common Core State Standards.

“School districts, and teachers in particular, are hungry for resources that will help them ensure that their students succeed within the Common Core,” said Insight CEO Dr. Michael Moody. “We worked with teachers to develop myCore™ in order to help schools meet the challenge.”

Insight Education Group is a small but mighty company of teachers and administrators focused on the teacher’s perspective in professional learning and student achievement. Since 2002, IEG has partnered with districts and schools across the country to develop and implement instructional initiatives aimed at increasing teacher effectiveness.
