WHAT: How to Address Bullying and Minimize the Risk of Litigation
WHO: CyberBully Hotline Executives and Attorneys from Powell & Leon, L.L.P.
WHEN: Wednesday, July 25th 10:00-11:00 AM CST
St. Louis, MO – July 23, 2012 – One of the biggest issues schools must contend with today is bullying and cyber bullying. Although bullying has been in the national spotlight recently, many states, districts, and individual schools have yet to design a complete online safety curriculum or know how to effectively combat cyber bullying that occurs outside of school.
For Texas district and school administrators interested in gaining a better understanding of current bullying and cyber bullying trends as well as receiving an update on Texas state laws and statues, a free, one-hour webinar will be held Wednesday, July 25 at 10:00 AM.
Co-sponsored by the CyberBully Hotline from SchoolReach and Austin-based Powell & Leon, L.L.P., the program will outline steps for districts and schools to take to proactively comply with the laws and minimize litigation risks. In addition, attendees will learn how new technology, like the CyberBully Hotline, is helping students report bullying and harassment. The CyberBully Hotline is comprised of an anonymous, two-way reporting system – either text or email message-driven; school and student educational materials; and a bully prevention Resource Center.
“In today’s digitally-connected age, bullying no longer takes the form of a push in the hallway – there are harmful and destructive acts of cyber bullying to contend with as well,” said Paul Langhorst, chief marketing officer at SchoolReach. “This webinar is designed to help districts to know the law, the trends and the technology resources available to effectively help them manage these issues.”
