Capstone Digital Adds Early Learning Content to myON reader
Booklist Features Hundreds of Fully Integrated Digital Titles From Eight Publishers
MINNEAPOLIS (Nov. 7, 2012) – Research shows that building a student’s reading foundation early in life leads to improved learning across the curriculum and increased chances of adult success. Because early reading development is such a critical piece of a student’s academic and personal development, Capstone Digital announces an expanded collection of early childhood reading content for myON reader today at the NAEYC Annual Conference & Expo. The personalized literacy environment now offers a booklist featuring hundreds of children’s titles from eight additional publishers that address the needs of early learners.
“Reading proficiency is the foundational aspect of learning, so building students’ literacy skills early is critical to putting them on the path to success throughout school and beyond,” said Todd Brekhus, president of Capstone Digital. “The expanded collection of early childhood content available on myON reader combines a student’s love of technology with their innate curiosity and interest in learning.”
Usability studies have found that preschool children learn to use mobile devices quickly, independently and confidently. Having mastered the device, students are then free to explore and learn on their own. And since myON reader is accessible on iPads and all other mainstream tablets, the growing list of early learning titles is available to young learners anytime, anywhere – whether they’re at school, home or on the go.
The myON reader personalized literacy environment provides access to the largest integrated library of enhanced digital books, with reading supports such as an embedded dictionary, highlighting and audio. To personalize the reading experience, myON reader develops a profile for each student based on interests and reading level using the Lexile® Framework for Reading, and generates a recommended booklist to encourage students to read more and further improve their reading skills. Since the platform launched in January 2011, more than 1.4 million students have logged on to read upwards of 4.25 million books.
