Kingston, TN – Jan. 8, 2013 – Educators at Irving (Tex.) Independent School District are redefining their career and college readiness initiatives and aligning them to meet the demands of today’s global economy. The burgeoning program, aimed at working earlier with students to ensure they are equipped with the skills and career direction needed for a productive life after high school, is being met with high marks and praise from local business leaders, teachers, parents and students, alike.

For school administrators and career and technical education specialists interested in learning
about the innovative practices that Irving ISD is employing to bring a ‘Signature Model of Career and College Readiness for All High School Students,’ a free, one-hour webinar will be held Monday, January 14, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM.

Sponsored by WIN Learning, the webinar will be led by Shawn Blessing, the director of Career & Technical Education for Irving, ISD, who will share how the district’s program coupled with the implementation of WIN Learning’s innovative, specialized career–driven courseware and career-readiness certification programs is the new standard for preparing their students for their next path, whether they are college, trade school, military or workplace-bound.

“Today’s advanced global economy requires American students to perform at their highest level to compete in the future job market and maintain the long-term economic security of the U.S, said Joseph Goins, executive vice president, WIN Learning. “Irving is one of a growing number of districts that are successfully linking classroom and working experiences so students are fully career and college ready, day one after graduating from high school.”
