Catlin Tucker to Provide Kickoff Keynote at Annual CUE Conference:
“Common Core: Transforming Teaching & Learning”
Walnut Creek, Calif. (PRWEB) January 29, 2013 — Author and teacher Catlin Tucker will kick off the 2013 Annual CUE Conference by sharing her enthusiasm for Common Core teaching standards and how it shifts from breadth to depth, giving teachers the opportunity to make learning more relevant and engaging for their students.
Common Core standards emphasize communication, higher-order thinking, technology integration and literacy, real world application and creative problem solving. Catlin will speak on educational technology’s potential to empower teachers, allowing them to experiment with Problem Based Learning (PBL), flipped and blended models. When used to complement and enhance traditional instruction, technology makes it possible to cultivate a variety of skills with a single assignment. Catlin’s presentation will feature student work demonstrating practical ideas for addressing Common Core standards using technology. Attendees will learn how technology opens the door to creatively addressing Common Core standards without adding to their workload. Her goal is that educators walk away feeling energized about this shift and eager to explore how they can use technology to transition to Common Core standards in their classroom.
Catlin’s keynote epitomizes this year’s Annual CUE Conference theme, “CUE to the Core,” and sets the stage for keynote speakers Sir Ken Robinson of TED fame and Kevin Honeycutt, known for his engaging presentations. This trio of powerful presenters add to hundreds of free sessions and optional paid workshops scheduled for the 2013 Annual CUE conference both educational and enjoyable. You can register for the conference online and learn more about the conference on our CUE Guide More information on our keynote speakers may be found at http://cue.org/annualcue2013keynotes.
