Online System for Parent Involvement Selected as SETDA Emerging Private Sector Partner
Santa Barbara, CA (May 28, 2013) – ParentSquare, a private online communication system that makes parent involvement easy for schools, has been chosen as one of ten emerging private sector partners by the State Education Technology Directors Association (SETDA). The ten participants will present to state leaders June 21 at SETDA’s Emerging Technologies Forum held annually before the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) conference in San Antonio, Texas. They will also be invited to contribute to other events over the next 2 years.
ParentSquare is a private intranet for communication between school and home. Easy to use, it helps increase parent involvement in children’s learning, volunteering, and fundraising by bringing together organizational tools school and parent leaders need – including homework and news sharing, volunteer scheduling, wishlists, calendars and online fundraising. Automated alerts and multiple message delivery options ensure all families can stay involved.
“To be selected by nationally-respected SETDA for the emerging partner program is a true honor,” said ParentSquare Founder and CEO Anupama Vaid. “It is so satisfying to see parents, educators, and school leaders enthusiastically embracing ParentSquare. Parent involvement is critical to student and school success, and more and more schools are looking for ways to encourage and manage it more easily. It’s exciting to see it getting national attention.”
This is the inaugural year of SETDA’s two-year Emerging Private Sector program. In addition to presenting to and networking with state technology leaders on June 21, ParentSquare will participate in monthly events and SETDA’s Leadership Forum, November 3 -6 in Arlington, VA. Founded in 2001, SETDA is the national non-profit association representing the interests of U.S. state and territorial educational technology leadership. SETDA’s mission is to build and increase the capacity of state and national leaders to improve education through technology policy and practice. For more information about SETDA, visit www.setda.org.
