LearnPad “Purpose Built for Education” Tablet Solution Launches Common Core Instructional Standards Alignment within Management Portal
‘Instructional Standards’ provides seamless integration with District priorities
July 11, 2013 Chicago, IL – Alongside LearnPad’s recent major school district adoptions in Texas, Washington and Ohio, Educational Resources® now announces the inclusion of an “Instructional Standards” feature included as part of its award-winning LearnPad education tablet solution. The “Instructional Standards” tab includes the current Common Core frameworks as a simple way to effortlessly align and auto-associate lessons to a district’s chosen standards of instruction. Embedding the standards directly within the cloud-based management portal gives teachers and curriculum coordinators confidence that LearnPad stands alone as an educational tablet solution supporting their current academic priorities.
“Our design of our LearnPad ‘Purpose Built for Education’ solution started with examining our existing customer needs. Everything we do at Sunburst Digital™ and Educational Resources® begins with an instructional needs analysis,” offered Ladd Skelly, director of professional development and services at Educational Resources (ER™), a division of Sunburst Digital. “We approached things for the LearnPad no differently than implementing one of our award-winning math, science, social studies or language arts digital content solutions. We believe education deserves better than requiring teachers to take already limited time away from instruction in order to force fit the technology into their chosen instructional methodology. Schools deserve vendors and providers that deliver a baseline level of understanding sufficient to capably offer solutions that seamlessly enhance and support local standards-based instruction. Without those standards of care and performance in place, our students and schools lose out.”
LearnPad’s “Instructional Standards” feature for supporting the Common Core initiative is available at no cost for LearnPad customers. Districts can opt to implement existing state standards in subject and grade areas for a per-campus charge. In order to be more in sync with local priorities, LearnPad will customize the management portal with a “Local Scope & Sequence” tab. “Our implementation here at Midland Independent School District has benefited from the ability to align our LearnPad use directly to our chosen pacing calendar and syllabus,” shared Dennis Haynie, instructional technology supervisor at Midland ISD. “Together with using LearnPad’s professional development services and having ER align the LearnPad portal with our scope and sequence, their simple tablet solution was the right choice for our district.”
LearnPad is the only Purpose Built for Education tablet solution. LearnPad launched in the US in October 2012 and is now in more than 600 school districts across the UK, US, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean. LearnPad is offered in the U.S. through a network of LearnPad authorized partners supported by ER. LearnPad is the 2013 Best of BETT and BESA ERA Award Winner.
