SCHSL looks to PlanetHS platform for eligibility registration and communications, PlanetHS sets goal to provide $1M in fundraising to SC schools
Columbia, SC & Jacksonville, FL Aug 20, 2013- PlanetHS, provider of the only free, and safe student activity and athletic management social media platform is thrilled to announce its partnership with the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL). SCHSL Leadership has chosen PlanetHS and its cloud-based service to be the exclusive eligibility submission platform for all high school athletes in South Carolina. The two have set a lofty, though very attainable goal of $1M in additional revenue generated through PlanetHS school fundraising opportunities.
SCHSL will use this powerful platform to streamline communication with Principals, Athletic Directors, Coaches, Student-Athletes and Parents statewide. PlanetHS has worked closely with SCHSL to develop tools that include centralized schedules, scores, and statewide contests, with sponsors providing an additional revenue source for the association.
Mr. Jerome Singleton, SCHSL Commissioner, who will spearhead this initiative, comments, “The top priority of the SCHSL is to support all student athletes of our member schools in South Carolina, which was the driving force behind our partnership with PlanetHS.” He continues, “The PlanetHS platform provides a free, streamlined resource that allows my team to communicate efficiently – everything from scheduling changes to ruling updates, quickly and effectively, from AD’s all the way to student-athletes themselves, not to mention live and archived video of games for family viewing. We are excited to delve deeper into the possibilities for SCHSL sponsored contests and additional revenue opportunities that are available through our partnership with PlanetHS.”
Very importantly, the PlanetHS platform can be used as a source of fundraising for schools and teams in South Carolina, allowing local businesses to demonstrate support for the schools in their community and receive a unique sponsorship presence with school family users. Through its partnership with SC schools and local community businesses, PlanetHS aims to contribute more than $1 million in new fundraising annually to South Carolina schools and school-based extracurricular programs over the coming years.
PlanetHS CEO Joe Hawkins comments, “PlanetHS is honored to partner with an organization such as the SCHSL. We look forward to playing an active role in their support of all involved in student athletics across the state of South Carolina.” He adds, “PlanetHS understands the importance of the SCHSL mission, it is a feather in our cap that this association and its members entrust our platform to be their go-to resource.”
PlanetHS uses modern digital communications technology to knit families, their schools – and the businesses that serve them – more closely, and safely, together in many helpful ways. Because each and every South Carolina middle & high school is participating in this partnership, the hope is that parents and small business owners across the state will join this partnership’s commitment to support each and every student.

The SCHSL oversees all High School athletics for the state of South Carolina. From their headquarters in Columbia, SC, the SCHSL undertakes the ever-challenging task of coordinating information distribution and aggregation of schedules and schedule changes, game scores and results, while always focused on the safety of all athletes. Sticking to their motto, “An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules…” the SCHSL also oversees adherence to all rules and regulations. Effectively communicating this abundance of information across the state was a huge challenge. The PlanetHS platform simplifies this process by allowing real-time, interactive video updates on rulings and automatically updating both aggregate scores and aggregate schedules for all to see.”
PlanetHS is a student-life community offered to schools free of charge and can even be a source of funds for participating schools and teams. Focused on student activities and athletics, the PlanetHS platform “communities” are controlled and moderated by schools, providing them with simplified, easy-to-use features that are contextualized to specific school needs. Communication from administrator to student can be sent conveniently through fully documented email & SMS text messaging, eliminating the complexities of scheduling, and lowering the expense burden on schools limited funds. www.planeths.com
