Alex Foundation and Architects Partner with Heifer International and World Architecture News
Celebrate World Architecture Day with Winter in Songming Book Donation

In celebration of World Architecture Day (WAD), sponsored by World Architecture News, the Alex Foundation, Wittenberg, Delony and Davidson Architects (WDD) and Heifer International will handout and read Winter in Songming books to 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students at Crestwood Elementary School in North Little Rock. WDD architects will also highlight the pivotal role architecture and the build environments contribute in society. Winter in Songming follows the life of a young boy as his village in China moves toward self-sufficiency. Heifer International donated the books to the Alex Foundation.

WAD 2013 is the annual celebration of architectural and design excellence. This year’s theme: Towards eight billion; Housing the next generation will explore a selection of the most innovative housing solutions from around the world – from rebuilding the slums in Mumbai, building on water in the Netherlands, worker housing in China, community-driven developments in Berlin, to social housing in France.

Background information
Alex Foundation, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, offers free academic assistance, scholarships and educational resources to disadvantaged students. The Foundation’s efforts are collaborated through a multiple intelligence approach that includes cooperative, experiential, project-based and multidisciplinary learning.

Heifer International is a 501(c) (3) global nonprofit humanitarian assistance organization. Since 1944, Heifer has helped more than 18.5 million families. A center for hunger and poverty education, Heifer offers schools service-learning projects and overnight Global Village experiences at learning centers in Arkansas and Massachusetts.

Wittenberg, Delony and Davidson Architects (WDD) is one of the largest architectural firms
