Winter Park, Florida — Nov. 13, 2013 — With the rollout of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in classrooms across the country, high-quality, Common Core-based assessments are quickly becoming an indispensable tool for educators who are eager to see how their students are meeting the new goals and expectations. To provide educators with the timely data they need to guide their students toward success, Performance Matters™ is partnering with Measured Progress™ to offer new Common Core items and assessments as part of its flagship assessment and data management system (ADMS).

Through this partnership, Performance Matters customers can now subscribe to Measured Progress COMMON CORE™ content, which includes a new Item Bank, targeted Testlets, quarterly Benchmarks, and online professional development that guides teachers as they prepare students in grades three through eight and high school for the increased rigor and cognitive demands of the CCSS. Using the Student Assessment Module of the Performance Matters ADMS, teachers can test students online or via plain paper scanning. Together, the Performance Matters and Measured Progress solutions will allow teachers to easily drill down into students’ understanding of specific strands and domains of the CCSS, and then use that information to guide their instruction.

“We’re very excited about our partnership with Measured Progress because it allows us to provide our customers with high quality, original Common Core content, which is a crucial area where many schools need support,” said Woody Dillaha, co-founder and CEO of Performance Matters. “What makes the Measured Progress Item Bank, Testlets, and Benchmarks so valuable to educators is that they were developed specifically to address the rigor and depth of the Common Core. Using these items, in conjunction with our assessment and data management system, teachers can get the real-time results they need to deliver effective instruction that focuses on the needs of their students.”

The Measured Progress COMMON CORE Item Bank contains more than 4,000 multiple-choice, short-answer, and constructed-response items. With built-in sample responses and scoring notes, teachers can quickly and consistently score student work. In addition, Measured Progress COMMON CORE Testlets include 100 short, pre-configured reading and math tests with multiple-choice, short-answer, and constructed-response item types. Each Testlet has a test blueprint, student test form, scoring guides, and optional formative tools to help teachers gain deeper insight into students’ knowledge and skills. Measured Progress COMMON CORE Benchmarks are tests that can be administered four times a year to students in grades three through eight to give teachers valuable feedback about students’ understanding of the Common Core.

“Because all the items in our COMMON CORE solutions are newly developed and not back-aligned, teachers can gauge students’ understanding of standards that many item banks simply can’t measure,” said Measured Progress President Martin Borg. “We’re delighted to have the opportunity to bring these items to Performance Matters’ customers and support them in their transition to the Common Core. With Performance Matters’ proven technology platform and our Item Bank, Testlets, and Benchmarks, educators can measure student understanding in real time and use that data to drive effective Common Core instruction in their classrooms.”
