Alexandria, VA (6/3/2014) – ASCD, a global community dedicated to excellence in learning, teaching, and leading, announces the release of Pathfinder, a new membership benefit designed to help educators advance their careers. Developed as part of the association’s “”membership means more” campaign, Pathfinder offers a series of practical articles for educators at any career stage who wish to expand or redefine their jobs. “As an organization that represents educators, we are invested in every step of our member’s careers no matter the path they choose,” said Judy Seltz, Acting Executive Director of ASCD. “The new Pathfinder career articles are yet another way ASCD is meeting the needs of educators and making certain they have the tools they need to succeed.”

Written by ASCD Emerging Leaders, a cadre of young, promising educators with potential influence in education programs, policy, and practice, each Pathfinder career article provides action items and expert advice. Topics covered include “Cover Letter and Resumes 101,” “Five Things You Think Principals Want to Hear (And What They Really Want to Hear),” “How to Ace an Interview,” “Smooth Sailing to School Leadership,” and more. ASCD updates Pathfinder periodically with new, insightful articles.

“The ‘membership means more’ campaign was built to deliver members with the resources they need most,” said Bonnie Kasander, Director of Membership at ASCD. “The Pathfinder career articles do just that by ensuring educators not only prepare their students for their next steps in life, but that educators are prepared to take the next step in their own careers.”

Professional development using the Pathfinder career articles is offered through ASCD Job RampTM, which creates a valuable and unique job search experience by employing CareerBuilder’s job posting engine, résumé and job search services, and incorporating all of the CareerBuilder jobs already in the education category. The ASCD Job Ramp site also offers educators custom employment searches and personalized alerts.

Additionally, today, June 3, from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. eastern time, ASCD (@ASCD) invites educators to participate in a career-growth conversation during the monthly #ASCDL2L Twitter chat. ASCD emerging leader Fred Ende (@fredende) will facilitate the chat, along with guest ASCD author Bill Sterrett (@billsterrett). Using the #ASCDL2L hashtag, participants can submit questions, share insights, and offer suggestions for resources that can help all educators support the success of each learner.
