School administrators from across the U.S. and experts from Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital content and professional development for K-12 classrooms, will make multiple presentations during the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) 2014 Conference being held June 28 through July 1 in Atlanta, Ga. During these presentations, conference participants will learn practical strategies for transforming instruction to engage today’s tech-savvy students. Among the topics explored during these presentations will be digital storytelling, Web 2.0, navigating the digital transition, wearable technology, and hardware and platform choices. Sunday, June 29
12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Embark on the Digital Conversion Journey with Discovery Education: Attendees will hear from administrators who successfully navigated the digital conversion, including top leaders from Georgia’s Forsyth County Schools, South Carolina’s Rock Hill Schools, Tennessee’s Oak Ridge Schools and D.C. Public Schools. **Session will be held at Omni CNN Center Hotel, Marietta St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30303**
2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Untangling the Web – The Best of Collaboration, Communication and Innovation: Discovery Education’s Steve Dembo and eduTecher’s Adam Bellow will explore how to use web tools to create interactive, collaborative experiences for teachers to engage in with their students.
4:15 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. Tablet Hardware Smackdown: As curriculum resources move from print to digital, hardware and platform choices become important. In this session, Discovery Education’s Hall Davidson will run cloud-based curriculum products through the most widely available hardware platforms, allowing participants the opportunity to see how each device and platform performs in a test of the same resource.

2:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. Snapshot 2 of 2 – Wearable Technology in Education: Steve Dembo will participate on a panel about how technology like Google Glass might best be used in an educational setting.
4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Transition to digital textbooks – Why it works, why it’s time: Because school board members must make budgetary decisions, it is essential that they understand the impact of digital resources. This presentation, by Hall Davidson and Napa County Superintendent of Schools Barbara Nemko, will give CTO’s, superintendents, and educational technology advocates tools to share the vision with their boards.
Tuesday, July 1
11:45 a.m. – 12:45 pm. Storytelling for the YouTube Generation: Steve Dembo explores non-traditional ways to harness the power of digital storytelling to tap into student creativity throughout the curriculum. This session will identify new models of digital storytelling that are being used to generate millions of views on YouTube and then determine how to make use of them in the classroom.
