Scottsdale, Ariz. (June 25, 2014) – rSmart, a leader in enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for higher education, announced today that the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) has selected rSmart Cloud Express for Kuali Coeus to replace their current pre-award management system.

The automated, turnkey research and grant management software will help the university manage proposal and award submissions which are anticipated to result in more than $70 million in extramural funding this fiscal year.

Built on open source, community-developed Kuali Coeus software, Cloud Express will provide UMMC enhanced reporting, streamlined proposal tracking, and compliance management. The new solution will bring quick value and reduce the burden on Information Technology (IT) services with its cloud-based, pre-configured deployment.

With the appointment of Dr. Richard Summers, Associate Vice Chancellor for Research, the research enterprise at UMMC is undergoing a period of rapid growth and expansion. Cloud Express will provide the Office of Research the necessary tools to track and manage all of the pre-award functions the office oversees—from proposal creation, routing and submission, to tracking of awards and reports. It will also give investigators and chairs the ability to track their transactions at any point in the life cycle and quickly generate reports based on specific criteria.

UMMC will be a part of rSmart’s Pillar Partner Program, which brings together a select group of colleges and universities to provide insight and innovation for rSmart’s next generation of grant and research management solutions.

“The University of Mississippi Medical Center represents a growing number of institutions looking for an affordable, turn-key eRA solution that has been built specifically for higher education. We’re thrilled to partner with UMMC during this important transition and look forward to supporting their continued growth in the future.” said Chris Coppola, rSmart CEO.
