SMART Launches SMART Notebook Maestro Software

• New software enables teachers to use iPad® to remotely control and interact with Notebook content

Calgary, Alberta — October 15, 2014 — Responding to strong customer demand, SMART Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: SMT) (TSX: SMA), announces SMART Notebook® Maestro software, the latest addition to the SMART Notebook Software platform. The highly sought after feature allows teachers to remotely control and interact with SMART Notebook collaborative learning software on any interactive display using an iPad equipped with the SMART Notebook iPad app. The app and the SMART Notebook Maestro add-on quickly and easily connect to the desktop version of SMART Notebook via Wi-Fi so teachers can change Notebook pages and add and manipulate objects while moving about the classroom, without disrupting the flow of the lesson.
In order to use SMART Notebook Maestro educators must have SMART Notebook software 14.2 or higher, an active Notebook Advantage subscription and the latest version of the Notebook for iPad app. SMART Notebook collaborative learning software is the world’s most powerful and widely used collaborative learning software. SMART Notebook Maestro software will be available as a free download from the SMART website on October 31, 2014. In order to use SMART Notebook Maestro customers must have Notebook version 14.2 or higher, an active subscription to SMART Advantage and the latest version of the SMART Notebook app for iPad. A one-year individual subscription to Notebook Advantage starts at US$54. Volume and term discounts are available. The Notebook app for iPad is US$6.99 through the Apple App store. Purchases of 20 or more by education customers qualifies for Apple’s Education Volume Purchase Program. An updated version of the SMART Notebook for iPad app will be available October 31, 2014.
