grants-mayEven as we head into the summer months, there’s still funding opportunities for schools and educators focusing on programs and self-improvement.

Each month, eSchool News compiles a list of new education grant opportunities. This month’s grants focus on libraries, literacy, and school leadership. We list grants for collaborative team building, PD, and youth literacy.

Crayola Creative Leadership Grants 2015
The 2015 program provides grants for innovative, creative leadership team building within elementary schools. Apply now for the opportunity to receive a grant for building your school’s creative capacity. Each grant-winning school (up to 20 grants awarded) receives $2,500 and Crayola products valued at $1,000.
Deadline: June 22
Funding amount: ~$3,500

2015 Gale/Library Media Connection TEAMS Award
Collaboration among teachers and media specialists is critical to promote learning, increase student achievement and help students develop 21st century skills. Gale and Library Media Connection want to honor teacher–librarian teams for their hard work and dedication.
Deadline: June 30
Funding amount: $2,500

Dollar General Foundation Youth Literacy Grants
Youth Literacy Grants provide funding to schools, public libraries, and nonprofit organizations to help students who are below grade level or experiencing difficulty reading. Grant funding is provided to assist in the following areas: Implementing new or expanding existing literacy programs. Purchasing new technology or equipment to support literacy initiatives. Purchasing books, materials or software for literacy programs.
Deadline: May 21
Funding amount: Up to $4,000

Horace Mann’s $10K DonorsChoose.org Giveaway
From April 27 – May 8, educators can enter for a chance at winning part of $10,000 in DonorsChoose.org funding. Enter here once per project, or give your DonorsChoose.org project ID to your local Horace Mann agent, for a chance to have a project fully funded. The organization will fund $10,000 in randomly drawn projects that have been submitted through the entry form on May 8.
