Anonymous Alerts helps students in the Croton-Harmon School District report their concerns quickly using anti-bullying and safety-reporting app
Anonymous Alerts, a mobile communications tool that empowers students to report their concerns quickly, has been implemented by the Croton-Harmon School District in New York, which serves approximately 1,700 students.
Using the mobile app technology, students can now quickly and anonymously report urgent or sensitive information to authorized school officials.
The app allows students and other school personnel to maintain their confidentiality while calling attention to situations like bullying, safety concerns, family problems or other situations that may warrant immediate attention by school officials. Used in numerous school districts throughout the U.S., the Anonymous Alerts® technology facilitates the quick reporting of bullying, cyberbullying, drug and alcohol issues, depression, dating violence, and other issues worthy of attention.
According to Dr. Edward Fuhrman, Superintendent of Schools for the Croton-Harmon School District, “We are excited to launch Anonymous Alerts, which will provide our students a two-way anonymous dialogue with school officials using mobile apps to communicate their concerns. The old or traditional way was for a student to submit a paper note in a locked box in front of the principal’s office.”
Dr. Edward Fuhrman added, “This technology is another step demonstrating our district’s reputation for excellence and commitment to making each of our schools safe so that each and every student can excel in their growth and learning. In addition to being a proven way of preventing more serious incidents in our schools, this system will also help us minimize the distractions which can often prevent students from getting the most out of their educational experience.”
To use the new app, students or other school personnel can simply visit the Croton-Harmon School District website at http://www.chufsd.org and click on the “Anonymous Alerts” button or text link to submit a message expressing their concern. Anonymous Alerts mobile applications can be downloaded directly from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store or the Chrome Web Store.
Students in the Croton-Harmon School District will be supplied with simple login and password information, making the app remarkably easy to use. In addition, informational posters explaining how to use the app will be displayed throughout schools and offices in the district. All reports remain completely anonymous, although submitters have the option to reveal their identity if they prefer. The system will be monitored during school days between the hours of 7 am to 5 pm.
